As the telecom industry moves toward 5G, more attention is being paid to the design and development of cloud-native network functions (CNFs) to speed up network deployments and get products to market faster. Mobile operators are looking for a faster and more cost-effective 4G-to-5G upgrade path with network transformation in the form of virtual network functions (VNFs) and cloud network functions (CNFs). This talk is a detailed end-to-end walkthrough on how to deploy 5G core and RAN using open-source components. It presents all the foundational aspects of Amazon EKS and AWS (AWS CloudFormation, AWS Lambda, Amazon CloudWatch, and so on). This was presented by Gokul Chandra and myself as a chalk talk (and demo) on building a 5G network using AWS.
