One of the previous posts covered the first-level approach to integrating virtualization technology (e.g. KVM, ESXi etc) into SDN platforms
This post explains a deeper level of integration by combining OpenStack, VMware vSphere as well as Cisco ACI, a commercially available SDN platform. The reason deployments such as the below will become important is in understanding the complexity when newer networking paradigms such as SDN control planes are introduced into legacy datacenters with their own hypervisor and networking stacks & approaches. While the first blog (above) discusses these concepts at length, for brevity, I have added detailed explanations in this diagram itself. Please follow the end-to-end flow on the illustration.
